Everything is captured by cell phones everyday, from live streaming shows or capturing a home run at the ballpark on social media. In 2018, musicians and comedians are trying to take your phone out of your hand when you go to their shows. Rockers like Jack White and comedians like Chris Rock are implementing new phone policies that take your right to have a cell phone at one of their shows.

Other artists have embraced having thousands of “cameramen or camerawomen” and social media influencers. Remember when Garth Brooks brought out that cancer survivor? It was a moment shared and lived on by millions of fans after it went viral over the internet and social media platforms.

Many country music stars have followed Brooks’ suit, country stars like Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett and Carrie Underwood who have used social media marketing to sell out shows and have their efforts go viral.

So it’s sort of strange that in 2018 musicians and comedians are threatening their fans with removal from shows if they stream their show live on their cell phone. Other stars who have embraced technology and social media at show have had spectacular press sells and ticket sales.

There are those artists that will play a new song at a concert that is meant to be just for that intimate moment and they don’t want it to leaked, we get that. But should the masses be punished due to a small group of reckless fans?

When people go on dates to shows or concerts they want to document that moment forever with their loved one or partner. Imagine if John met Sally on his local adult phone chat line in his area and they had a great conversation over the phone and he has tickets to a concert this weekend. Is John not supposed to take a selfie with his hot new date to show his friends or family because of a bunch of people pirating video online?
