Sheertex Review – Tights That Don’t Rip

Previously, women were left with the choice of thick tights that may not look as great or a disposable pair of sheers that usually rip within a few wears. Sheertex’s patent-pending knit is incredibly strong, but also breathable and sheer.

1. They’re rip-resistant

If you’ve been scrolling TikTok or Instagram, chances are you’ve seen Sheertex ads touting tights that don’t rip. Developed by Katherine Homuth, the Sheertex brand combines one of the world’s strongest polymers with patent-pending technology to create what they describe as “miracle knit.” The proprietary fiber also claims to be antimicrobial and water-resistant, meaning these tights will last longer than your average pair.

Sheertex’s tights are responsibly designed and made in Montreal, Canada. They’re put through rigorous testing that measures burst strength, abrasion resistance, yarn strength, and tensile strength to ensure they can withstand whatever life throws at them.

Still, they’re not completely invincible; blemishes can crop up over time (the Sheertex site notes that these can be fixed by gripping the lines sharply in opposite directions to unbunch the fibers). But if you consider how much it costs to replace your typical pair of tights with every new season, it might make sense to invest in a pair that will actually last.

2. They’re comfortable

Tights are a closet staple, but dealing with snags and tears can be a pain. They’re expensive to replace, and if you have long nails or a pet with claws, they can get worn down before their time. This is exactly the problem Sheertex set out to solve with their rip-resistant tights.

The company’s signature unbreakable fabric is made in Montreal using one of the strongest polymers in existence. It’s also eco-friendly, as it uses less plastic than normal hosiery.

Each pair of Sheertex tights comes with a small test kit with a piece of the same fabric you’ll be buying, so you can see for yourself how durable they are. This is especially helpful for first-time users, who may be hesitant to go all-in on their durability claims.

All Sheertex products also come with a 90-day no-snag guarantee, which makes them a pretty good investment. Plus, they’re super comfy, with a little give that feels like a second skin.

3. They’re affordable

For a newer brand, Sheertex has managed to create high-quality tights that are still a fraction of the price of other brands. They also offer a no-snag guarantee, meaning that if they ever do tear, the company will replace them for free within 90 days.

Founder Katherine Homuth set out to make Sheertex pantyhose after she realized how many pairs she was wasting because of rips. She spent a year and a half on research and development to turn ballistic material, which is usually found in bulletproof clothing, into lightweight, breathable stockings that can’t shred even when you brush against them.

Sheertex has a ton of different styles, including polka-dot, seam, glitter and striped options. But they’re not all available in every size, so you might have to do some shopping around to find the best fit for you. They’re priced at $59, which is still a little steep for tights, but it’s not too much more than you would spend on a pair of really nice jeans or a great pair of work pants.

4. They’re stylish

Sheertex founder Katherine Homuth was frustrated by hosiery that constantly ripped, so she set out to create tough tights that would stay put. After 18 months of R&D, she created a proprietary knit that uses one of the world’s strongest polymers. It was so strong, in fact, that traditional textile machinery couldn’t handle the material, so Sheertex built their own hosiery factory in Montreal, Canada.

Despite their impressive durability, Sheertex’s products also boast the sleek look you’d expect from any hosiery brand. The company offers a variety of styles, including polka dots, stripes, and lattice patterns, as well as a lacey option with a high waistband for a sexy figure-smoothing effect.

Considering that Sheertex’s pantyhose are made from the same ballistic-grade polymer used in bulletproof vests and claim to be 10x stronger than regular hosiery, it seems like they could be worth the price tag. But do they really live up to the hype? We sent a pair to three Well+Good staffers to find out.
